Our Gatlinburg, Tennessee Trip In Review ( Where We Stayed, Ate, Played, ETC)

SHOP MY BOOTS
Hello! As many of you know we just returned from our ski trip in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I had many questions asked about this trip on my Instagram stories, so I decided to do a "TRAVEL" review.

Gatlinburg is an active place throughout the year. With hiking, rafting, and other opportunities throughout the summer and fun at Ober Gatlinburg Mountain Ski Resort during the winter. The Gatlinburg area promises fun for the whole family. Honestly, we were blown away with the beauty of this city! We arrived right after Christmas, so Tennessee was still transformed into a winter wonderland complete with festive decorations and specials events.

We were on a tight schedule and had an activity booked every day, but the goal of this trip was to teach Anayan how to ski...  Mission accomplished!! (He learned in just one day without falling)

Where We Stayed

We stayed at the RIVER TERRACE RESORT AND CONVENTION CENTER through our Westgate timshare. I wanted to stay somewhere downtown Gatlinburg with a nice balcony and a mountain view, so I could stand out on it and watch it snow. We could choose between the fireplace or the balcony room, and I think we made the right decision. Location wise - the hotel is ideal! We could walk everywhere! Parking is pretty expensive in Gatlinburg.

Where To Eat
If there is one thing you’ll learn about dining in the Smokies, it’s that these folks don’t mess around when it comes to breakfast. Don’t let the line deter you when you arrive at the Log Cabin Pancake House.(moves faster than I've  ever experienced)
This place has favorites like cornmeal or buckwheat pancakes the size of an 8" pan (5 pancakes in one). Very unique, but delicious!

Draft Sports Bar
Has a buffet on the weekends (children $5, adult $11) with a beautiful river view. Draft was located downstairs of our hotel, so it was very convenient to eat there + it was Anayan's favorite!

Another delicious breakfast place we ate at was Pancake Pantry. The food and service here was fenominal!
We ate a huge breakfast every morning because like I said the portions were generous and kept us full most of the day. For lunch we ate up the mountain at Ober Gatlinburg.

The Peddler Steakhouse
Was our favorite dinner place! It was recommended to us and I must say it is the best place I have eaten in very long time!!! Salad bar is a la cart and the rest you ordered from the menu. I had Trout and my husband had Steak (both were delicious). Anayan ended up eating half of my food because it was delicious!

Activities
December marks the beginning of the skiing and snowboarding season at Ober Gatlinburg. The slopes typically open around the middle of the month.
We didn't have a lot of natural snow, but snow machines did their job just fine, making it look like a white wonderland up in the mountains.
Anyone over the age of three can enjoy snow tubing down the resort’s specially designated hill. Thrill seekers will love Ober’s Ski Mountain Coaster, an exhilarating ride with plenty of twists, turns, and corkscrews. Other exciting things to do in Gatlinburg TN in December at Ober include ice skating, an alpine slide, a scenic chairlift and a wildlife encounter.

Anayan's favorite was the Tram (cable car). He only likes to watch it going up and down. He was afraid to ride it, so we took it up and down the mountain only once and the other times drove our car. The mountains provides you with a shuttlebus also.
